Burnt Acre Shiraz 2017
A wine we have been excited about for some time when tasting the component barrels, as the rich fruit and layers of tannins were notable as the wine was maturing in barrel. Some extended skin contact with some parcels of grapes at the end of fermentation has helped to increase the fine tannin structure in the wine. This will also help the wine to age gracefully for those who enjoy cellaring their wines.
A small percentage of Grenache pressings wine was blended in as part of the assemblage, adding some perfume and fruitiness that gives the wine another layer of complexity.
Following on from our 2015 vintage which won the People’s Choice Award for Bendigo’s Best Shiraz, and the fuller, riper 2016 vintage which sold out in seven months.

Burntacre Acre 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon
For the first time since 2008 we have made enough wine to release a straight Cabernet Sauvignon, albeit in tiny quantities.
With sweet berry fruit and fine dry tannins, the wine is a mouth-filling style with many years of life ahead. The length of palate and lingering flavours make this wine a fascinating stablemate with our Shiraz.
A hatful of Shiraz (4%) was blended in with the Cabernet to add middle palate structure and balance to this exciting new wine.

The Embers 2017
A Shiraz/Cabernet blend we have traditionally called The Embers here at Burnt Acre. This style of wine is unique to Australia - approximately a 50/50 mix of the two varieties with great tannic structure and rich soft fruit, the wine is a wonderful example of the old Shiraz vines at Burnt Acre combined with the Cabernet grapes from Turners Crossing that finish up in Seppelts and Penfolds wines amongst others.
Again made in limited quantities, this wine complements our two varietal examples and is a personal favourite.

Burnt Acre Easy Road Vineyard Chardonnay 2016
Grown on the Easy Road Vineyard at Merricks North on the Mornington Peninsula, we manage the vineyard ourselves along with our friend and local Garry Kiernan.
